Purpose of the Foundation
Stichting Mayamba Support,
founded on 17 April 2024, and Stichting SVKO, founded on 3 March 2011, will
merge as of 1 January 2025 and will combine their efforts from that moment onward.
The foundation aims to support disadvantaged communities in Gambia in starting and further developing their activities. To achieve this, the foundation performs all actions that are directly or indirectly related to this purpose or that may contribute to it. This includes providing advice and guidance, as well as offering basic facilities for starting entrepreneurs. Special attention is given to improving the well-being and future opportunities of vulnerable children and young people.
The foundation also strives to improve the living conditions and future prospects of people in disadvantaged communities in Gambia, thereby reducing the inclination to migrate. Furthermore, the foundation aims to contribute to the development of skills that promote local and regional self-sufficiency and support the self-development and future orientation of the local population.
Activities
Activities
The foundation supports and initiates projects in The Gambia from a holistic perspective, aimed at strengthening self reliance and empowerment. Its activities cover multiple areas of daily life, including improving housing and living conditions, strengthening financial situations and spending habits, and promoting social functioning and participation in society. In addition, the foundation focuses on meaning and motivation, physical health and self care, practical and household skills such as technical abilities and language, and support in creating a meaningful daily routine through work, education, social activation, and hobbies.
